A Weekly Writing Community with Joanne Nelson

Beginning January 5th

Tuesdays from 9:45am to 10:45am

Gathering in shared practice, our writing community offers an opportunity to reinvigorate your writing practice. Using writing prompts and awareness practices we’ll learn to combine the art of paying close attention with writing that explores and expands our experiences. Whether you join once or continue to gather with us weekly, the support of community can deepen our connection with our personal writing practice, as well as offer support during challenging times.

Appropriate for beginning writers as well as those with more experience, all that is necessary is the curiosity to listen deeply to yourself, the desire to pay close attention to all that is around you, and a willingness to explore your imagination through writing. We’ll utilize techniques proven to enhance creativity, create opportunities to gain insights, and take time to write in a safe and nurturing environment. (Any sharing of class writing is completely optional.)

Each week will include time for a variety of writing opportunities, contemplation, and discussion.

Joanne Nelson is the author of This Is How We Leave (Vine Leaves Press). Her ongoing writing practice focuses on creative nonfiction, essays, commentaries on craft, reviews, and the occasional poem. In addition, Joanne is certified by the McLean Meditation Institute as a meditation and mindfulness teacher. The classes, workshops, and retreats that she leads have a solid foundation in the skills and experiences she brings from these eclectic pursuits.

Over thirty years of experience as a psychotherapist allows Joanne to combine clinical expertise with her love of teaching to create programs that are research based, practical, and enjoyable.
