Ahimsa

Named for the Gandhian principle of non-aggression toward oneself and others, this recently-renovated hermitage is the southern-most hermitage on the property and has 2 single beds in an open area and 2 single beds located in a heated indoor porch. Patio doors separate them.

There is a shared kitchenette with a breakfast bar, refrigerator, a pleasant sitting area with couch and several chairs, and a full bathroom. Air conditioning, a ceiling fan, and gas heat are included.

Built by a group of friends for Sister Virginia, she chose the name Ahimsa, Ghandi’s word for non violence.

For several years she used gas lamps for light as there was no electricity. Gahndi was popular at that time—lived there until she moved to Arizona
